Lichen sclerosus can be caused by the same virus that can be detected in a pap smear, HPV.
Though this condition occurs mostly in women, men can also suffer from it. The exact cause of the disease is unknown. Corticosteroids and testosterone may be used as treatment. Sometimes, surgery is needed.

This is a chronic condition associated with the appearance of white papules and follicular plugs. The lesions are found mostly on the body, genitals, or an area around the anus. Patients report itching and outer lips’ shrinkage in women suffering from kraurosis vulvae. Lichen sclerosus can be caused by the same virus that can be detected in a pap smear, HPV.
